Architectural Review Board. Is inactive at this time.
Purpose; duties. The purpose of the Architectural Review Board is to encourage the redevelopment of the historic professional district in old downtown Valparaiso, utilizing architecture consistent with design of the late 1920s and early 1930s, and to retain a cultural, pedestrian friendly environment through a local registry of local historic sites. The duties of the board are to approve all certificates of appropriateness for new construction and substantial modifications within the historic professional district ant to consider nominations for the local historic registry.
Composition; term. The board shall consist of seven members with at least the following persons being represented: one representative from the Heritage Museum Association, one resident from Plat 1, one Planning and Advisory Board member, one property owner in the historic professional district, and the City Administrator. The term of each member shall be for four years.
Approving Certificates of Appropriateness and Local Historic Registry Designation. The board shall follow the procedures in Section 114-112 for approving a certificate of appropriateness and placement of a site/structure on the local historic registry.
