Every Day in the Month of July look in our Early Readers Section or Junior Section for pictures you can color and leave at the Library for Display.
Join us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. for Music & Me, Storytime, and Stay and Play with Mrs. Hillary. Mondays are for 0-5, Wednesdays ALL AGES are welcome, and Fridays are for 0-3 years old. Join us Thursday, July 2nd, at 2 p.m., for a Special America 250 themed family movie. The Valparaiso Library will be showing 'An American Tail'. Escape the July heat and take in an animated classic film. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. All ages welcome to join in this event.
On July 6th at 5-6 p.m. The Valparaiso Library will have a special Summer Reading Adult Acrylic Art Class. We will be using acrylic paint on canvas to create a work of art! We will have pastries and drinks to snack on while you paint. Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt at the Library Thursday, June 4th at 2 p.m. Children ages 3-10 will Find hidden dinosaurs throughout the library to earn a cute dino prize. Join a new crochet and knitting group. This a social circle of creation. You can learn how to knit and/or crochet, or just come for the enjoyment of watching and company. We have some yarn to help get you started on your new creation. You will need crochet or knitting needles. There are starter kits that you can purchase at local stores if you desire Come see what it is all about! Join the 3rd Monday every month at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, July 21st at 2pm, Unearth a Story of Fairytales & Fables! Let's make a book! Come and use our "books" and our supplies to make your very own Fairytale. We will provide blank books, stickers, colored pencils, and anything else you need to write and illustrate your very own Fairytale. Ages 6+ Registration is required for this event. Join us Tuesday, July 2st at 3:30 p.m. to discuss our book for this month; 'Mona's Eyes: A Novel' by Thomas Schlesser. The Valparaiso Library will be opening up their Makerspace Lab to the public. This Month the lab will be open on Monday, July 27th the Lab will be open from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. We have a Silhouette machine, laptop, sewing machine, large workspace/table, paintbrushes & hot glue guns for crafting, and some basic tools available for use. Note: This is not instructional; you should have basic knowledge of the equipment you intend to use in the lab. The library is facilitating your creative ideas by providing a workspace and basic tools & equipment. Please bring your own vinyl, fabric, thread, or other materials needed for your project.

We will be holding our Summer Reading Wrap-up Party on July 30th at 10 a.m., at Lincoln Park in Valparaiso. This is a family event where we will have light refreshments and a Foam Party! Foam Me Up will be at the park making suds and for the kids to play in. Dress to get wet if you plan to play in the Foam!! *Adults must be present and stay with the child/children they bring to this special summer reading event.

A Local Children’s Book Author will be here to read her Pirate Pup Adventure Book called “Pirate Adventures of Sea Worthy with the I Can Crew” on July 31st at 10am. We will be doing a fun pirate themed craft afterwards that goes with the book. Come dressed like a pirate if you darrrrrrrre! All ages welcome for this event. During the third week of July, get outdoors and snap a picture of the Sunset!!! Send your favorite photo to ebolin [at] valp.org (ebolin[at]valp[dot]org) and your photo will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages to celebrate the week in Sunsets! ONLY photos submitted in LANDSCAPE will be voted on in the contest for the Facebook Banner. Photos should be submitted no later than Sunday July 26th. *The photo with the most likes on Facebook by 10am July 29th will have a place of honor as the Library’s Facebook banner for the rest of July and all of August. ( Credit will be given to the photographer if desired).
Join your Okaloosa County Libraries at a Beach Clean-up on Saturday, July 11th from 8-10 a.m. We will meet at the Crab Trap on Okaloosa Island at 8am. Everyone is welcome to join. Buckets and Gloves will be provided.
